Burn-off contributes to collision

NEWS

Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle crash on SH2 south of Otane on Sunday, just before 9.30am. It is believed smoke in the area from a suspected burn-off caused significant visibility issues along SH2 and contributed to the crash. As a result of the smoke, the road was closed and diversions were in place. Police are asking for information following the theft of building tools from a Waipukurau house on Friday. Tools taken were mainly DeWalt brand, and include sabre and skilsaws and battery operated drills. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police non-emergency line on 105. Police are concerned with increased levels of disturbance among children and young persons at the Waipukurau Skate Bowl in Russell Park. Inquiries are underway relating to recent incidents and it is advised that children using the facility should be supervised by an adult.
