Your Community Voice

If you could ask those standing in this year’s election anything, what would it be? Leading into the election Western Bay of Plenty District Council provides an opportunity for the public to press the future councillors on important issues. As part of council’s Generation Change campaign, residents can submit their questions online at generationchange.nz, with a selection to be put in the spotlight at the upcoming Meet the Candidate Debate series. “Maybe you want to know the candidates’ values, their views on certain issues, or maybe it’s something that’s affecting you and your community,” says council CEO John Holyoake. “Whatever it is, let us know and those standing in the election could be answering your question on the night of your local debate.” Submit your questions before August 19 online at generationchange.nz Meet the candidate debates, 6pm start: August 29: Katikati-Waih¯ı Beach Ward, Katikati Primary School August 30: Kaimai Ward, Pahoia School September 1: Mayor Debates, University of Waikato, Tauranga, Lecture Theatre, Level 2 The debates will also be livestreamed on generationchange.nz
